Abstract

Abstract

The Snow White fairytale written by the Brothers Grimm is compared to the adaptation by Disney. Although both stories include similar points throughout the plot, there is an obvious difference in the tone of the two stories. The Brothers Grimm has a much darker tone, including themes of jealousy and a foremost depiction of evil. The Disney adaptation of Snow White is much lighter including themes with the importance of friendship, true love, and beauty. This article explores the tones and themes present in both versions of the story, examining the roles of characters, dissecting the disparities in plot, and illuminating the diverse time periods and cultural influence that shape these tales.
